Celebration of Vespers

We would like to bring to the attention of the community and interested persons that there will be a celebration of Vespers at 6pm on 08 November 2025 for the Feast of St Nektarios of Pentapolis the Wonderworker (+1920), there will also be the chance to venerate the icon of the Archangels from their feast on the 08 November itself.

The Vespers service will be followed by a talk by Fr Gregory Florides between 7pm and 8pm on "Living the Services and Sacraments" which will be presented in English with a summary at the end in Greek, and with the possibility to ask questions afterwards.

Fr Gregory Florides is a recently ordained younger priest who serves at the Community of St Barnabas at Wood Green and is completing his doctoral studies in Thessaloniki.

We look forward to seeing you there. Coffee and biscuits will be provided between the end of Vespers at 645pm and the start of the talk.

CELEBRATORY WEEKEND : "TA DEMETRIANA" - 25 & 26 OCTOBER 2025

Dear Parishioners, friends of our Community, pupils of all ages and parents of our School.

We are together again for our regular communication with a small reminder.

The Feast of St Demetrios (26/10), Patron of the Ladies Charity of our Community is fast approaching and the preparations to honour his memory are underway.

Together, the celebration of the National Day of OXI and the Feast of Ayia Skepi (28/10) will take place.

To mark the occasion, a celebratory weekend is organised commencing with Vespers on Saturday 25th at 6pm and continuing on Sunday 26th of October. Matins will start at 9.30am followed by H. Liturgy, Artoklasia and Doxology for the Commemoration.

Then, together with our Priest, all the pupils, parents and teachers we will gather at our Church Hall to enjoy the festivities and as it is customary, the School will play a big part. Celebrations of this kind are part and parcel of our traditions, even our ancient ancestors used to say " An uncelebrated life is like a long road without an inn on sight ". We, although far away from our homelands, as custodians of our inheritance, we try to keep the heritage alive and we never stop honoring our Saints.

As it is known our Community was founded in December 1989, our School and the Ladies Charity, St. Demetrios, were established within the months of 1990. So a double Thirtyfifth Birthday in our midst!

Paying tribute to this Landmark, the Festivities will culminate with the establishment of the Annual Event : "TA DEMETRIANA", which will be taking place on the nearest Weekend. to 26 - 28 of October, when the Church Services are taking place in our Community.
